FINALLY...  WE HAVE NATIONAL APPROVAL FOR THE FLEX PROGRAM!!  However...

On September 8, 2009, after the Section 1 Board meeting, Martine and I talked about the FLEX program.  It has become apparent to us that it is not going to work for this year.  We did not receive the information we needed from most of the regions in order to meet our projected start date of September 13.  In fact it looks like most of the regions that are having difficulty in getting enough interested players and coaches.  It appears that some regions may have one team or another, but clearly not enough to make a good experience for the kids. So, instead of trying to throw something together that would turn out to be a substandard program, we think it would be best to put it on hold for this year. 
 
We should the start planning within the next month or so now for next fall.  We need to get the word out to parents, players, and potential coaches and referees.  Find out how much interest there is and promote during the fall and before and during registration for the fall 2010 season.  We also need to figure out how we can process the players and be sure that all of the coaches and referees meet the requirements of the program.  I will set up a meeting for mid-late October for us to get together and hear everyone’s take on this years situation and see how we can make sure it will work for 2010.

Those of you who have tried to promote for this year, please share the comments, both positive and negative that you have heard.  Any refinements that you can think of to make it more successful would be appreciated as well.  I encourage all of you that if you have set up training sessions for flex on Friday nights, that you continue them and open them up  to all interested players!!  This should develop some interest for next year.
